Knit, not netted

A sheer Mary Jane flat, knit instead of netted. The open knit gives over your foot and lets air through; the elastic instep strap keeps it on without a buckle digging in. A padded, quilted footbed on a thin rubber sole that folds with your foot.

Black, Khaki or Beige. US 6 to 10, half sizes included — take your usual size.

30 days to change your mind

Wear it. Live with it for a month.

If something isn’t right, tell us and we sort it out — usually the same day, always within one business day. No form to fill, no ticket number, no explaining yourself twice.

Anything that arrives damaged or defective is replaced or refunded in full, and we won’t ask you to ship it back.

You have 30 days from the day it lands on your doorstep.

Shipping

Orders leave within 1–2 business days.

United States: 6–12 business days to your door.

You get a tracking number the moment it ships. No fees are ever collected on delivery.

Your usual size — half sizes included

Fit

Take your usual US size. The knit gives and the strap is elastic, so there is no need to size up — wide foot or long toes included. Half sizes are in the run. The number printed inside the shoe is the European size, not the US one: it will not match the size you ordered, and that is normal. If it lands wrong, a person swaps it inside thirty days.

Materials & care

Materials

  • Upper — open knit, nothing rigid bound at the edge
  • Strap — elastic, across the instep, no buckle
  • Footbed — padded and quilted
  • Outsole — thin textured rubber; the shoe folds in half

Season

Bare on warm days; with a sheer or thin sock when the air turns. Not for rain — the knit lets water in as easily as air.

Care

Hand wash cold, reshape, air dry away from heat. Not for the washing machine or the dryer.

Mesh pinches. Knit gives.

A mesh flat is cut from a net. No stretch, a stiff strap. Hour two, it squeezes; size up, and your heel slips out. This one is knit. It gives.

  • Knit loops stretch over the foot, not into it
  • Elastic strap across the instep — no buckle
  • Nothing hard bound at the heel or the edge
  • Your usual size, half sizes included

Covered like a flat. Cool like a sandal.

A closed flat in July: an oven by two. A sandal at work: toes out. This is the pair in between. Reads like a shoe, breathes like it isn’t there.

  • Open knit — air goes straight through it
  • Bare in July. A sheer sock in October.
  • Sheer by design — you see the shape of your foot
  • Not for rain; it lets water in like air

What you are actually getting

  • Open-knit upper — it gives over your foot; air goes through it
  • Elastic instep strap — keeps it on; no buckle, nothing hard on the instep
  • No rigid trim at the edge — nothing hard against your heel
  • Padded, quilted footbed — on a thin rubber sole that folds in half
  • Sheer by design — you see the shape of your foot
  • Three colors — Black, Khaki, Beige
  • US 6 to 10, half sizes included — take your usual size

Questions people ask before they buy

What size should I take? Does it run small or large?

Your usual US size — half sizes are in the run. Mesh flats run small because the net has no give and the strap is stiff; this one is knit and the strap is elastic, so there is no need to size up, wide foot or long toes included. The number inside the shoe is the European size, not the US one — it will not match what you ordered, and that is normal. If it still lands wrong, a person swaps it inside thirty days.

Will it pinch the top of my foot or cut into my heel?

That is what a net does: a stiff strap, hard trim at the heel, no stretch — the two complaints in almost every mesh-flat review. This one is knit to the edge, the strap is elastic, and nothing hard is bound at the topline. If it pinches anyway, tell us — that is what the thirty days are for.

Does it actually breathe?

Yes — the knit is open, and air goes through it the way it goes through a sandal. At 95 in the sun every closed shoe sweats; this one just sweats less. It is not a cure for a heat wave. It is a flat you can keep on in July.

Is the knit flimsy? Will it snag?

It is a knit, so a nail or a splinter can pull a loop — the way it can on a sock. The sole is rubber, the strap is elastic, and the whole thing is covered for thirty days: if it comes apart, it is replaced or refunded in full, and we won’t ask you to ship it back.

Can people see my feet through it? Do I need a pedicure?

You can see the shape of your foot — that is the look. If you do not love seeing your foot every time you look down, this is not your flat, and we would rather you knew that before it arrives.

How thin is the sole? Is there arch support?

Thin, with a padded, quilted footbed and no contoured arch. It is a sheer summer flat, not a walking shoe: the office, dinner, the beach town, yes; ten miles of cobblestones, no. If you want a flat that carries you all day, The Paris Flat is the one built for that.

Will it stay on my heel?

The strap is elastic and sits across the instep, so the foot has nowhere to go — that is what it is for. Most heels come out of mesh flats because the buyer sized up to escape the pinch; take your usual size here and let the strap do the rest.

Can I wear it with socks? Is it only a summer shoe?

May to October bare; after that, a sheer or thin sock slides in — the knit gives, so the sock does not fight the strap. Black with a sheer black sock and wide jeans is a fall shoe. A thick sock does not fit, and we would not pretend it does.

Can I return or exchange it?

Yes — thirty days from the day it lands on your doorstep. Wrong size, wrong color, changed your mind: tell us and a person sorts it out. Anything damaged or defective is replaced or refunded in full, and we won’t ask you to ship it back.

I’ve been reaching for these nonstop lately. They make a basic jeans-and-black-top outfit feel a little more put together without looking like I tried too hard. And they’re actually so easy to walk in!
