Questions people ask before they buy
Which size should I take?
If you usually wear a US 2 to 10, take the S; a US 12, the M; a US 14 or 16, the L. Those sizes are matched to the coat’s own chest measurement under Size & fit with room for a sweater underneath. Between two sizes, take the smaller one: the cut is already roomy.
How long will it be on me?
About 53 to 54 in from the top of the shoulder to the hem, depending on the size. Run a tape measure from the top of your shoulder, next to your neck, straight down: that’s where it ends. If you’re petite, it can reach the floor, so measure before you order.
Are the sleeves long enough?
They’re long: 26.8 in in S, 27.2 in in M and 27.6 in in L. Each cuff has a buttoned tab.
Is it wool?
No, and we’d rather say it now. The cloth is 95% polyester and 5% cotton, with a matte face and real weight to it.
Is it a cold weather coat?
It’s a fall and winter coat: long, with some weight to it, and roomy enough for a sweater underneath. It isn’t a down parka. On a very cold day, put a thick knit under it.
How heavy is it?
About 3 lb: 2.9 lb in S, 3.1 lb in M, 3.2 lb in L. You feel it on your shoulders. It’s a coat, not a light jacket.
London Coat or London Trench?
The London Trench is the short one: it stops at the hip, closes with four buttons and has no belt. The London Coat is the long one: double-breasted, belted, and long enough to cover you past the calf.
Which color should I pick?
Chocolate is a deep, dark brown, not reddish. Black is a soft black. Both have the same dark buttons.
Can I wear it in the rain?
It isn’t made as a raincoat. For a wet day, that’s the job of The New York Raincoat.
Can I return or exchange it?
Yes, within 30 days of delivery, unworn, with its tags and packaging: an exchange for another size or color, or store credit for the full amount. Return shipping is on you. Anything that arrives damaged or defective is on us, and we won’t ask you to send it back.
